What an exciting month I have had so far this April... tons of miles on my van, but I think I have a bunch of new things to teach and show you! I'm gonna be putting together a bunch of new short videos to show off some new products and some new tips in the coming weeks.

Full Color Painting This Week

Last week with 3 colors you all did an amazing job!
I was so impressed with how colorful you made your work with only 3 colors.

Now that we are on full color, it doesn't mean you need to use every color in your palette. All it means is there are no restrictions on the number of colors you can use. I do however suggest that you still need to follow a value pattern and look for your 3 main color scheme selections.

When making your color scheme selection I usually start out with the 2 main colors that are usually complementary colors, but they don't have to be. When you pick your 2 main colors then decide on a color that will work well with the other 2 colors. The best way of picking is to take a scrap sheet of paper and mix your color choices together to take a first-hand up close, real live look at how all 3 colors go together.

If you feel that you would like to put 4 colors together, that is fine too, just do a little swatch of those colors mixed so again you can see how they all work together. It will also give you a chance to see how many different colors you can make with the colors you picked.

Paint-a-long Details: This weeks photo comes to us from an artist in Trinidad (Bevil Wooding) who lent us the photo for us to paint. On April 21st I will paint it on Stonehenge Aqua 300lb Cold Press using Holbein Watercolors. It will be a full color study of this house above. I am looking to put people into the painting. I think red and green will be my complimentary colors and I will add colors to those.
