Welcome to the FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter #402

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you wonderful artists!

In the last month, we have been limiting the number of colors we have been painting with because I wanted you to see how important large-value patterns work no matter what the colors are. This week we finally go full color and I want you to remember that the value pattern is still very important for you to establish before you even start your painting.

Last week at the Lakes Region Watercolor Guild meeting I watched a demonstration by Ryan Fox who only used black watercolor paint to demonstrate texture and values in his demo. This made me want to try some 1 color Mars Black paintings. I suggest you try it too as it will be a great way to learn how to establish a value pattern. BUY HERE This is the kind of tape I use to stick 2 matboards together when double matting and this is also the double sided tape I use to put a dust cover on the back of a painting as demonstrated above.
