Hello
Welcome to the FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter #396
Happy New Year! I am so excited to get everyone started working from the beginning, a new start! The new year always makes it feel like a good time to start out fresh, a new beginning. I feel even if you are a seasoned painter you can always use a good new years start. The first thing we will learn to do is start with a good drawing.
I am heading to Florida in a couple of weeks to teach at The
Villages. There will be a Paint Party, A Watercolor Class and a Watermedia Class Sign up HERE
Yes to Class at the Civic Center in Libertyville, Thursday, Jan. 5th 1pm to 3:30pm

Getting the Drawing Down Right
The #1 most important thing about painting a sucessful watercolor painting is to have the drawing
correct. I don't care how you get the drawing to the paper as long as the drawing is sound.
Below I made a video explaining all the ways that you can get a drawing down on to a sheet of watercolor paper. Even when using these ways you
always want to make sure the drawing is correct.

Product of the Week
BUY HERE This is the transfer paper I use in my classes for students to trace the large black and white images onto their watercolor paper. It isn't graphite paper, which you can erase, it's Transfer paper which you can not erase on.
Artist of the Week
Hazel Soan I found this artist listed as an instructor for the Watercolor Live Workshops. Her simplicity of composition is amazing!
This 1st painting of the new year we will be doing a sunset. I find that it is a great subject matter for learning everything that needs to start learning watercolor.
