Welcome to the FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter #397
It's already the second week into a new year and with
the great start of the sunset scene we painted last week, we now start this week with learning all about how to compose your paintings by using one color and learning how to use all the values to compose those paintings. Last week's composition was very easy with all of the sky being light and the center of interest and ground in front all being dark. As we move ahead those large light and dark patterns will become more complicated but the idea of the large patterns being so important is what I
want you to remember.
I head to Florida this Friday and teach at The Villages starting on Sunday. There will be a Paint Party, A Watercolor Class and a Watermedia Class and there are still spots left so if you are in the area, Sign up HERE
The following week after The Villages Workshops I head to the Bahamas and Cozumel Mexico aboard the Celebrity Cruise ship where I will be painting as much as possible. If you are on that ship out of Miami let me know so I can let you know where I will be plein-air painting! I will also try to stream some of my plein-air works if I can get some good wifi.

Composing in One Color
When it comes to the steps of painting good watercolors the 1st step is drawing and the 2nd step is
composition. This week we learn about turning your photographs into B/W and then looking to see if the image has a large value pattern. A large value pattern makes it easier for the watercolorist to paint fresh watercolors.
