Grey VS Muddy

As an instructor I hear many of my students say that that are always getting muddy colors and then when I look at their palette I see beautiful greys. Then I will look at their painting and I see that it is overworked and that's usually where I see the mud. I think most students don't realise that what they think is mud is really a grey and what they believe to be overworked is really how mud is made.

The image in color and grayscale are for this week's Paint-a-long, which will be a three color exercise. You can also use black and white with your two colors. We will also learn how to do optical scatter again this week with the sun and how it changes the objects in front of the sun.
