Welcome to the FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter #8

So many things happened last week that I could fill this newsletter 5 times over, instead I want to teach you about trying new things. Try new colors. a new style, a new brush or even some different kinds of paper.

Thanks and congratulations to the artists that I juried into the WRAP Beloit Exhibition. I did a demonstration on Saturday morning followed with a critique of everyone's work in the afternoon. Super great time. See below for pictures of that event.

Practice with Sketches when trying New Materials or Styles

If you have ever taken one of my workshops you know that I always make my students practice before we go into painting finished works of art.
If you ever get new materials or you are trying something new, I always recommend that you practice simple sketches like the ones above to practice and get the feel of what you are intending to accomplish or just to get to know your materials or brushes.
Practice with simple sketches. They make great greeting cards when you are done practicing!

Last Saturday's Demonstration at the Beloit WRAP Exhibit

Last Saturday I did a Demonstration and Critique for the Beloit WRAP at The Beloit Fine Art Incubator. The painting below is of the demo that I painted.

Loved seeing how many wonderful artists there were in this show doing so many wonderful styles and techniques in so many different mediums.

I have my new brush in hand, soon you will be able to get one too!

It's been a long wait, but the time has come and I am so excited. I just tested the brush and it is everything that the prototype was and more, a super sharp large flat brush with superb spring back bristles! Thanks, Holbein.

I am in the process of updating and redoing my entire website, when it is finished there will be a store on the site where you will be able to purchase this brush.

Now onto my new watercolor palette, which I just built the prototype and my son has built in olidworks!i

Greek Islands Workshop Oct 5th 2016

Next year on October 5th, 2016, Dillman's will be hosting me to do a workshop in the Greek Islands, aboard this luxury yacht. The Video below shows you the boat we will be on along with the company that operates this trip.
