BeckerArt FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter August 25th

Published: Tue, 08/25/15

Hello

Welcome to the FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter #17

Inspiration! that is what I want for all of you. I went and received some inspiration this weekend at The Milwaukee Art Museum. Their exhibit was Van Gogh to Pollock: Modern Rebels
Super inspirational.

I was also looking to get to the Kenosha TWSA exhibit, but there wasn't enough time. I'm sure that would have been even more inspirational.

Both Thursday and Saturday classes are happening this week..... see you there!

Get Inspired!

Inspiration...do whatever works for you!
Seeing work in person is what inspires me the most. Looking at works of art on the web and in books just isn't the same as seeing it live and in person. For instance, the painting by Salvador Dali below just doesn't do it justice, but when I saw this painting last weekend at the Milwaukee Art Museum it blew me away. It was the first original live piece of art I ever saw of Dali's and until I saw this piece I never really thought about his work.
After looking at this piece, I saw some amazing craftsmanship and I hope I can see some more of his work now.

Times like I had this weekend are great to get one inspired. When I see work like this that I admire I try and see if there is something I can add to my style that helps my paintings.

Do whatever it takes to get you inspired to paint like, visiting a gallery or museum, watch a movie about an artist, read a book about art or an artist, browse the web, join other artist to talk about artist's they love, go to one of my paint parties:) or one of my favorites is trying some new materials or colors or mediums.

Another great way to get inspired is to paint  a painting by a master, there are so many things that you can learn from this type of exercise. Just make sure you don't claim it to be your own when finished. Sign it with your name and under that put "AFTER ANDREW WYETH" if you copied a Wyeth.

Greek Islands Workshop attendance is getting me inspired
