BeckerArt FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter December 22nd

Published: Tue, 12/22/15

Hello

Welcome to the FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter #34

Happy Holidays to all you wonderful artists!
It's been an amazing couple of years as I have been trying to shift from a full-time illustrator into starting my own art business. Halfway through this year, I thought I might have to go back into full-time illustrating as I wasn't picking up as many workshops and classes as I had hoped. Luckily I picked up a few freelance illustration jobs and the paint parties started picking up, and then came the word from a few workshop places that wanted me to come and teach. I want to thank the students that had put in a good word for me to places all around this country and abroad, I can't thank you all enough, and the best part about my new business is that I get to meet so many wonderful artists!

Come January 31st I will be in Florida at The Marco Island Center for the Arts, demonstrating in watercolor for Dillman's Festival of Artists. more info below

This week the newsletter talks about Greeting Cards.

NO Class this Thursday at the Civic Center in Libertyville and NO Class Saturday at The Studio in McHenry.

Merry Christmas!
David

Greeting Cards for all Occasions
It's that time of year when cards are a big deal and that's a good reason to get your work published on greeting cards. Now a days you no longer have to go to Hallmark to get your work published on greeting cards, you can get them done from the comfort of you own home.

There are a few ways you can go about getting cards made:
1. print them up on your own home printer
2. send them out to be printed online
3. take them to a local printer or a store like Walgreens that has photo processing (they can usually also do it online)

Most importantly make sure you get a good photo or scan of your artwork, if you can't take a good photo or scan take it to a place like an OfficeMax and have them scan it so you have a good digital file of your artwork. Then you can take it or send it to anyplace that prints cards.

Here are some places I have used and have heard about from my students.

For those making their own cards, there are these cards that can be very useful.

Sell a box of cards by getting these stationary boxes or you can also get those clear envelopes

Don't forget you can also have Calendars made at most of these places

Cards are good to sell during the holidays, but they also sell well the whole year round.
