Using Different Mediums as Watercolor
Tonight I will be demonstrating the use of Holbein's Fluid Acrylics for the Northland Area Art League in Woodstock IL. Showing the League how to use them like watercolor.

I have been asked why I use Fluid Acrylics.... I tell all my students it is very good and creative to always try many different kinds of mediums and painting surfaces, you never know when you will find the medium and surface you love the most. Many of the masters had always used all sorts of different mediums, for instance, Andrew Wyeth had done watercolor but was probably more famous for his egg tempera paintings, like Christina's World. My mentor Irving Shapiro also used acrylics way before they made Fluid Acrylics. One of his acrylics is pictured below.

Don't be afraid to try new things, it keeps your creative juices flowing and who knows, you may be the first person to do a medium in a way that nobody else has done before.

Both of my paintings in this newsletter were done in Fluid Acrylics.

`This painting above was done on Arches Watercolor Board with Holbein's Fluid Acrylics and was the demonstration I did for the Lake Region Watercolor Guild.
Pictured above are the Holbein Fluid Acrylics that I will be using in my demonstration tonight at The Northland Area Art League, Woodstock IL. at The Opera House at 7pm

Watercolor Artist of the Week
Each week I will be bringing you an artist that I admire and that amazes me. I hope these artist's will amaze and inspire you to keep on painting and develop your own style as much as they inspire me.

Linda kemp is a good friend of mine that was the first person that taught me how to turn my watercolors into acrylics by adding a gel medium.
her watercolor and acrylic work are amazing!

Book of the Week
Before there were fluid Acrylics there were artists that were using acrylics like watercolor, my mentor Irving Shapiro was one of them. He has a lovely painting published in this book which I scanned out of this book and posted below.
