Hello

Welcome to the FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter #47 Getting Organized

The first day of spring happened last weekend and now it's time for us artists to do some spring cleaning or spring organising. This week's newsletter will go into how I found a place on the web to organise my fine art career.

Next Month April 14th, 15th and 16th I have a workshop happening in Minnesota for the Twin Cities Decorative Artists Guild. Guest are welcome to take all three days or pick and choose what days you would like to attend. $75.00 per day. I recommend taking all 3 days..... The first day we do a Landscape, 2nd day Cityscape and the third day we paint a Portrait. For more info or if you are interested in signing up please contact me through my email at david@davidrbecker.com

Getting Organized...Keeping Records
• How many paintings do you have sitting in your studio?
• How many paintings in each collection or body of work?
• How many are framed or unframed?
• Do you know the sizes to all of your paintings?
• What are the prices for each painting?
• Can you show me all of your art and let me know what is for sale and for how much?
• Do you have any pieces hanging in a gallery I can look at?
• Is any of your work in a juried exhibition that I can see?

Can you answer any of these questions without going to look in your studio or at the actual piece of art?
If you are like me, I couldn't answer any of these questions because I am an unorganized artist.
That was until 2 days ago, this weekend I read business consultant Laura C George's blog. She sent me to the website named Artwork Archive.com. I signed up instantly because I knew deep down this is something I needed to do if I want to continue down the path of becoming a professional fine artist.

What is Artwork Archive.com? Here is what is written on their facebook page....
"Artwork Archive is the premier web-based platform for experienced and emerging artists to track their artwork, sales, contacts, gallery showings and more. We give you the tools to intelligently manage and market your art career."

I signed up for their Masters Tier and have already started to download some of my work. Little by little I want to get every piece of artwork I own downloaded and organized with Artwork Archive.com.
Here is my in progress BECKERART PUBLIC PAGE at Artwork Archive,  I had only started organizing last night so I still have a little bit to do.

Watercolor Artist of the Week
Each week I will be bringing you an artist that I admire and that amazes me. I hope these artist's will amaze and inspire you to keep on painting and develop your own style as much as they inspire me.

Here is the other artist that became my second mentor. Irving Shapiro introduced me to Robert Wade my last year at The American Academy of Art and I have been corresponding with Bob ever since. When I was a student and before the age of the computer I sent him a slide sheet of my student works to Austrailia and Bob critiqued every single image, He is an amazing man and one hell of a watercolorist!
