Hello
Welcome to the FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter #72, Leagues/Guilds
Last Thursday I went to see a demonstration at The Lake Region Watercolor Guild where the guest artist Tom Francesconi did an amazing watercolor. This got me thinking about how wonderful it is that there are leagues and guilds like this all over the country and I truly hope artists take full advantage of groups like this in your area. This week I share a list of many of these groups and talk a little about them.

Art Clubs, Leagues, Societies and Guilds |
Last week I did a search for one of the guilds I would be visiting to do a demonstration for and in the process, I found hundreds of these clubs. It started me thinking about how wonderful it is that so many towns, cities and states have clubs like these for artists to join, at membership fees that are so reasonable for what these organizations do for their
membership.
Art Organizations like these usually have monthly meetings where they bring in artists to demonstrate their teachings to the group. Many of them also conduct workshops and most have shows and exhibitions of the members works. Then there are the specialty events that many of the clubs have that are special to that organization.... for instance, the "Paint-In" that the Geneva Lakes Arts Foundation runs where artists show off their paintings skills on the sidewalk in
front of the stores in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, while also trying to sell their works of art to those that pass by and watch them paint.
Most all organizations need members to help out and step up to the plate to help run the clubs and the many parts of what the clubs offer. This usually sounds like way too much for a person to handle but I can say from experience that volunteering for your local art club is not as hard or take as much time as you may
think. It is also very rewarding to help out a club who needs volunteers to step up. Volunteer today!
Here is a small list of clubs I found by just searching on Google and on Facebook. You can do the same search and hopefully find a club in your area that you can join. Happy Clubbing!

Michelle Richeson's work I had seen for many years at The Moondeer Gallery in Boulder Junction, WI. Every year I take my Dillman's class there after class and the owner Sara Muender has wine and eats for us. One year I remember talking to some of the students about this artist Michelle and how great her style was. Well yesterday I met the artist and got to see her work at the Richeson Gallery, amazing works!
