BeckerArt FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter Dec 6th, Gifts

Published: Tue, 12/06/16

Hello

Welcome to the FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter #83, Gifts

Black Friday has come and gone, did you get all your gift shopping done? If you are like me that answer is no, I wish I could be that organized to know what I am getting people by Black Friday but I seriously think that will never happen. Then again most of the things that are sold at cheap prices on Black Friday are things I normally wouldn't buy anyways. I really like to buy from local merchants and small businesses and most importantly artisans. Yes, I also shop at the big box discount stores but when I need to get that special gift I look to get that personal artisan small business touch.

As an artist, you also need to realize that at this time of year people are looking to you for their gift ideas.
Do you have anything to sell them that they could use to give as gifts, and I am not just talking about a painting? This week's newsletter goes into the gifts that you can produce using your artwork.
Sorry, I should have put out this newsletter weeks ago, but like my Christmas shopping, I do everything last minute.

This Thursday I will be demonstrating at the Lakes Region Watercolor Guild meeting along with running the meeting. I am the Vice President of the club and the President will be out this week.
The first half of the meeting will be spent  making and getting cards ready for the Camp Quality USA charity.
Every year all the artist's in the club make small original greeting cards that are then sold and all the money goes to the Camp Quality Charity. Read about the charity HERE

Okay, I definitely should have put out this newsletter a month ago but like I said above, I do things last minute all the time and will be something I will be working on in the new year.

So you have a bunch of wonderful paintings that you have framed and looking to sell for the holidays, that's great, but do you have anything else? Not every customer wants or can afford a framed piece of original artwork so this is the reason you have to give them other options. With the Internet and local printers being at our disposal artists have so many options now to give customers. Below I will list a bunch of websites and businesses that take your painting images and make some amazing things for you to sell.

  • Vistaprint.com- Probably one of the most popular places to print business cards but they also print on 100s of other items.
  • FineArtAmerica.com- Here is a place that many artists use for their website to show off their work , but they also sell your work as prints and on 100s of items.
  • Shutterfly.com Like Vistaprint  and they give a lot of deals.
  • Spoonflower.com here is a place that prints on wrapping paper, wallpaper and fabric.
  • Costco.com another place that prints on many things and you can pick it up at your local Costco
  • Walgreens.com another place like Costco but I heard not as good.
  • Shopvida.com here is a place that will make beautiful clothing using your art.
  • Zazzle.com sell your work to others that want to use your art on things.
  • Officemax and Office Depot  and Fedex office material places also can print a lot of different things
  • Local Printers are usually great because of their special attention they can give you the artist. A+Graphic Printers near me also does coffee mugs, tiles, coasters and a bunch of other cool things.
  • Snapfish.com another great place to get a lot of items printed at
Here is a list of items that you can print your images on
  • Women, men's and kids apparel
