BeckerArt FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter May 9th, Holbein Orange & Golds

Published: Tue, 05/09/17

Hello

Welcome to the FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter #105,  Holbein Orange & Golds

It's that time of year when the seasons are changing and everyone seems to be super busy. For me this week alone will be filled with a demonstration tonight at the Antioch Fine Arts Foundation, then the Lakes Region Watercolor Guild meeting/critique on Thursday morning followed by my class in Libertyville in the afternoon and then that evening a Relay-for-Life Paint Party Fundraiser. Friday and Saturday of course I have my BeckerArt Paint Parties and my Saturday watercolor class. That doesn't leave much time for painting but I will try to squeeze in some time for at least sketching.

The  Antioch Fine Arts Foundation has offered me a class for Thursday nights starting June 22nd....we are looking to see how many people are interested in a watercolor and if you want instead of watercolor you can bring acrylics, I will be teaching both. The class will be run like my Saturday class, a one-on-one style and it will be a 25.00 pay as you go class. Please contact me at david@davidrbecker.com if you are interested.

Do you want to try and get into the National Watercolor Society's exhibition in October.... Prospectus is HERE

Holbein Orange and Gold
Two of my favorite colors as many of my students know are Purple and Orange and is the reason why I wanted to find out what Holbein has to offer in those 2 colors. I looked at their purples and violets in a former newsletter and now I want to see what they have in Oranges and Golds.

My students also know I love Holbein watercolors because then don't dry to hard clumps and have super concentrated, vibrant colors.

After looking at the oranges and golds I think my most have colors are:
  • Permanent Yellow Orange (still  my favorite orange)
  • Brilliant Orange (2nd favorite orange)
  • Isoindolinone Yellow Deep (Changing my yellow to this color)
  • Quinacridone Gold  (still is an amazing color)
  • Light Red (Burn't Orange kind of look)
  • Jaune Brillant #2 (love the pastel feel of this color)
The other colors are good too, I just like these 6 mentioned above better.

Orange you glad I reviewed these colors!
