Published: Tue, 07/25/17

Hello

Welcome to the FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter #115, Holbein Art Event

Hello from Burlington Vermont, and yes it is that time of year again for the Annual Vermont Art Event. I believe that this is either my 5th or 6th year coming to Vermont to teach this wonderful event.
This weeks newsletter will tell you all about this event.

When I get back home in 10 days I will be starting to work on my new studio/gallery which will be located in next to The Studio, on Pearl Street, in McHenry, Illinois.

While traveling to Vermont this year I had the opportunity to pass through Old Forge, New York. I was hoping I could see the 2017 ADIRONDACKS NATIONAL EXHIBITION OF AMERICAN WATERCOLORS, but I was too early, the show doesn't start until August 5th. If you are in the area on the 5th through October 8th stop by to see this great show that our area artist Ken Call judged. Here is a LINK for the show

Yes to Class at the Civic Center Libertyville, Thursday July 27th  1:00 to 3:30pm with Sue Macfarlan
No Class at The Antioch Fine Arts Foundation, July 27th 6:30 to 9:00pm
No Class at The Studio in McHenry on July 29th 9:00 to 11:30

Holbein Art Event
First thing I need to say about the Vermont Art Event is Thank You Linda Kemp for introducing me to the Holbein Company run by the Hopper family. It was in Burbank, California at the materials/learning expo where Linda introduced me to Holbein. I have been in love with this paint and company ever since.

The event takes place at the Burlington, Vermont, Best Western Windjammer conference center and this year it is from July 24th to July 28th. Classes in the morning start at 8:30, go to 11:30, then from 12:30 to 3:30 and the evening class goes from 4:30 to 7:30.

What is the Vermont Art Event you many ask.....it is 5 days of 7 professionals teaching you all different kinds of mediums in all different kinds of styles.
There are usually morning classes, afternoon classes, evening classes and all day classes, and the best thing about these classes is you usually don't have to bring any materials of your own, everything is supplied which gives you the opportunity to try all kinds of mediums without the high expense of buying all the materials for a new medium that you may or may not like.

This year there are 7 awesome teachers which include:
Tom Lynch
Linda Kemp
Sean Dye
Annelein Beukenkamp
Jean Pederson
Caroline Jasper
and Yours truly David R Becker

mediums covered this year are:
Watercolor
Acrylics
Pastel
Oils
Water Soluble Oils
Fluid and Heavy Bodied Acrylics
Acrylic Inks
Oil Pastels

One of the best things about the event is the art store that they put together where you can get all the Holbein products and many other art products at super great prices. A great time to stock up!

Hope to see you there
David
