BeckerArt FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter Nov. 21st, New Brushes

Published: Tue, 11/21/17

Hello

Welcome to the FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter #132,  New Brushes

Have a Happy Thanksgiving. I can't even believe the holiday is apon us so soon. I actually didn't realise it was Thanksgiving this week until one of my students last week in class said, "see you in 2 weeks David and have a great Thanksgiving". Boy, it sure seems like time flies the older I get, must have been that birthday I had 2 Saturdays ago.

On November 30th in the evening I will be demonstrating for the Geneva Lake Arts Foundation in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. More info to come in next week's newsletter. This means there will be no Antioch class on the 30th for all you students that come to my Antioch classes.

A couple of newsletters ago I mentioned that masking fluid Molotow. I had a few people give me reports on that product. I also saw it in action this week and I couldn't believe how well it worked on thin lines. But I was told that one must not keep in on the paper too long because it can be hard or next to impossible to take off.

BeckerArt Gallery/Studio/Classroom Report: The exterior wall with the rotted windows has finally been replaced, I can now get the students wall done. I purchased some great track ligting last week from a motorsport place off of Craigslist. I'm so thankful for places on the web like Craigslist and resale places like ReStore, without them I could never afford opening up this new gallery/studio/classroom.

NO Class at the Civic Center Libertyville, Thursday Nov. 23rd
NO Class at The Antioch Fine Arts Foundation, Thursday Nov. 23rd
Yes to Class at BeckerArt Gallery in McHenry, Saturday Nov. 25th

New BeckerArt Brushes Available
Every week I try to teach you a little something in my newsletter but this week I have to admit this weeks newsletter is a shameless plug for my 3 new brushes. It has been since July that I have been waiting for these 3 brushes and I have to admit I am very excited to get them. I have been selling the 3 Former BeckerArt brushes for a while now, but now I have an awesome set of 6.

These brushes are high quality Holbein Gold brushes and I can't recommend them enough to my students. They are synthetic brushes which makes them really affordable, yet handle like some of the most quality brushes I have ever used.

I have had nothing but great response from many of my students that have gotten the first set.
To show you how they handle I made a small video below to give you a look at the new brushes in action.

To purchase them seperately or in 2 different sets see the link at the bottom of this newsletter.

The 3 new brushes are the 1/2" Flat, the 1/4" Flat and the #8 Round. I tend to use the flats a lot for city scenes where I need to paint windows and doors. The # 8 round is great for small details.

Artist Of The Week
Paul Dmoch I discovered this artist last week while looking for a different artist on the web. After my workshop in Vienna and Munich and seeing so many wonderful churches and castles, this artist hits it home for me. His work totally inspires me to try and paint the interiors of the churches that I saw while on my last workshop. His work is stunning!

What a great Black Friday gift to buy for that artist in your life or
why not get yourself that perfect gift!

My first 3 original brushes were made to my specifications, which were, The point on my 1 1/4" flat brush and the # 16 round had to come to a razor sharp point, along with a bounce back to straight action when applying watercolor to paper. The # 4 Rigger had to be the perfect length, the perfect thickness, and the perfect point.
My NEW brushes are the 1/2" flat, the 1/4" flat and the #8 round
