Welcome to the FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter #332 Favorite Artist

I've been back now for a week and I think I am getting caught up with all that was waiting for me when I got back home. It's amazing how things pile up when you aren't at home. I did decorate for Halloween which I wasn't really gonna do this year but many people in my neighborhood are really doing a lot of decorating so I figure I better do the same. I use to go overboard with the decorations for Halloween but stopped a couple of years ago when the kids got older and left the house, but I figure I better add to the neighborhood... Artists are so good at decorating for the holidays!

This week's newsletter talks about one of my favorite living artists, I hope you also have a favorite living artist that you can follow for inspiration. Would like to hear who your favorite artists are!

Favorite Artist

I get asked a lot about who my favorite artist is and then I have to ask back, are you talking about living or passed away artists? I find it really hard to answer that question when it comes to the masters that have all passed away because I would also have to ask about which medium that the artist works in. But if they are asking about a favorite living watercolor artist I have that answer right away because Mary Whyte is my favorite living watercolorist hands down!

When it comes to the master artists I can't give you just one artist, but Andrew Wyeth would definitely be on that list. Mary Whyte I feel is a living master artist that comes very close to how I feel about Andrew Wyeth's work. Whyte is a living master artist!

I can't say that Mary Whyte is a mentor but I can say that she has been an inspiration for how I feel about watercolor. her watercolors feel a lot like those that Andrew Wyeth mastered.

A friend of mine sent me this video she found on Mary Whyte and I had to share it with you so you can see how great an artist she is!
