Hello
Welcome to the FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter #516
This will be one of those weeks I hope to remember for a long time. I am heading to New York City on Thursday to go see the
American Watercolor Society exhibit, watch Thomas Schaller demonstrate, and then go to the awards dinner on Friday to get my AWS signature membership. It's been a dream of mine since art school to achieve this signature membership.
This week's newsletter is about the difference between hot press and cold press. The painting above, of a street scene, was done on Hot Press. I used to do all my painting on hot press when I was doing street scenes of
Chicago.
I will be in NY on Thursday watching Thomas Schaller demonstrate, which means I will not be able to do a paint-a-long on Thursday and will move it up a day and do the paint-a-long on Wednesday.
My Santa Fe Workshop is coming up quickly, and if you want to join me, sign up soon so you don't miss out! Sign up for my 5-day Santa Fe
workshop HERE
If you can't make the Santa Fe workshop, how about signing up for my 4-day Dillman's workshop HERE
Email me at Beckerart@gmail.com for any info you may need about my classes or workshops.
Which do you Like... Hot Press Vs Cold Press
When it comes to watercolor papers, there are many different papers to choose from, but the majority of watercolor artists either choose a Cold Press or Hot Press surface. Which surface do you prefer? If you don't know the difference, then watch this short video to give you a simple comparison.
I did not realize this was Joseph Zbukvic's wife until I saw her work on Facebook. Her work is amazing! I should have had her be the artist of the week last week because of all the statues she has
painted.
