Published: Tue, 04/28/26
Hello
Welcome to the FLOAT-YOUR-PIGMENT Newsletter #563
Last week we talked about subject matter and how important it is to know and love the subject matter that you pick. This week I want to go
over how important it is to look and see the original source of what you subject matter is. Seeing things in real life can be very helpful in getting you excited about subject matter.
Next month I will be teaching for the Iowa Watercolor Society. A 3 day workshop. For info go HERE

When you 1st learn about watercolor, most of the teachers have you working from a photograph. In time after you have picked up on how to work with watercolor and you are starting to pick your own subject matter, may I suggest
capturing the photos and sketching from the real live subject matter. It's really helpful to see subject matter live. I explain in the video below.
